Thrust ball bearings are designed to support axial (thrust) loads at high speeds, but they cannot support radial loads. These bearings are made up of bearing washers with raceway grooves in which the balls move.

Thrust ball bearings are best suited for high-speed rotation and axial load-bearing capacity applications, such as those found in the automotive and aerospace industries. They are not, however, suitable for use in radial load applications such as conveyor systems or agricultural machinery.
